Welcome to Suncoast Sea Glass Jewelry
About artist and metalsmith Valerie Weston
After my family and I moved to Tampa in 2002, real surf-tumbled sea glass came to my attention as the perfect tropical collectible. The leap from collecting sea glass to metalsmithing started as a single simple task: I wanted to make a charm bracelet for my daughter including sea glass, and I wanted to make my own sterling silver charms. I signed up for metalsmithing classes at the Gulf Coast Museum of Art. For me, metalsmithing generated a creative passion I had never experienced in all my years of being a “craft addict”. Suddenly my collection of genuine sea glass, the PMC textures I enjoyed creating and the shining precision of the sterling silver framework coalesced. Now, the sky - or rather, the sea - is the limit!
